Single Slam: Christmas/All I Want For Christmas by The Dollyrots

Pop-punk duo the Dollyrots have made this year’s holiday releases a family affair and are releasing them as a gift from the Dollyrots family to yours. They have covered two holiday classics but of course doubled the speed to make them their own and invited some special guests from the band family to join them.

Joining Dollyrots, Kelly Ogden and Luis Cabezas on “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” on backup vocals is 4-year-old Daisy Dollyrot, Whitney Parsons, Miski Dee Rodriguez (of City Mouse) and mixed by John Fields. Making his recording debut on “All I Want For Christmas (Is My Two Front Teeth)” is 7-year-old River Dollyrot. Both songs were produced by Luis Cabezas.

Says Luis and Kelly:

We recorded TWO Holiday songs this year, and they’re a gift to our awesome friends and fans! The first is a cover of the Darlene Love 60’s classic “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”, and track 2 is the debut lead vocal by our kid River in “All I Want For Christmas (Is My Two Front Teeth)”. He’s at that age where teeth are falling out, so we figured now’s the perfect time to take that one on. These tracks are absolutely free to bring the cheer. Here’s to next year and hopefully some live music on the calendar!

 

 

Of the two tracks, it’s the former ‘Christmas (Baby Please Come)’ that really stands tall. The Dollyrots adding a ton of punky fire to an already energetic Christmas classic.

Unbelievably catchy, the vocals of Kelly Ogden are amazing. Whereas the crispness of the production puts you in the mind of trekking across a freshly snowed field in the early hours of the morning.

The second track, All I Want for Christmas (Is My Two Front Teeth) features the pair’s young child, River. Which adds a ton of teeth-aching sugary cuteness to the band’s rocked up version of the song.

It’s a release that celebrates the festive time of the year in the unmistakable Dollyrots’ pop-punk way.
