Album Review: Rageful – Ineptitude (Self Released)
Portuguese death metal band, Rageful promise unambiguous album, straight to the point, without excuses. 10 tracks loaded with pure death metal is what ‘Ineptitude’ is. The album is out now!
Pure death metal… never was there more of an apt description then that. Rageful have spent years honing their craft and the end result is an album that batters and bruises. There are no surprises here, no sudden switches into prog or doom or rock. It’s just 10 tracks of blistering heaviness, exactly as it should be.
What makes it such an appealing listen is that unending and unbending aggression. Rageful have the talent and determination to pull it off convincingly. Through the medium of razor piercing riffing, bulky bass, coarse drums and gutter-draining vocals. Alongside a handful of guests; Sérgio Afonso (Bleeding Display/Disassembled) providing killer guest vocals on Unsocial Network, Samuel Trindade (Bleeding Display/Disassembled) throwing in a savage guitar solo on Portugal The Torch and Alexandre Ribeiro (GROG/Earth Electric/Disassembled /Neoplasmah) wowing with a fretless bass solo on Slavery Ways.
Just added icing on a damn fine cake.

With lyrics based around current society, selfishness and corruption, there is a hopelessness to Rageful’s Ineptitude. Yet it is also somewhat of a call to arms. To not just sit back and shrug your shoulders. To get angry, to let the rage take over and distil it into something meaningful. It’s exactly what Rageful have done here and it sticks, not just in the brain, but in the throat and gut. Is that bile coming up? It’s hot, sticky and you’ll feel all the better for expelling it.
