13 Days of Halloween – Horror Short Review: Under the Bed (2020)
A French horror short, Under the Bed is a classic monster tale that comes in at around 4 minutes. Yet in that short amount of time tells a great and effective horror story.
Written by Vincent Darkman who co-directed it with Kevin Mendiboure, it tells the story of a young woman who is haunted by a monster under her bed. Something that comes from her childhood.
A strong horror tale that has some fun with the ‘monster under the bed’ tropes such as leaving a foot out of the blankets. Of course, that issue is completely pointless when the covers are ripped off you in one go. Something that happens in this short for an effective jump scare moment.

This is a good one. One that has tons of atmosphere and enough of a creepy vibe to evoke those childhood memories of fear. It’s tense stuff and has a satisfying payoff. All of these qualities heightened by its professional look and well done musical score. Even the villain of the piece looks pretty good!
