Band Interview: Everyday Dogs
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with rock and roll band, Everyday Dogs.
1. How did you get started as a band?
Everyday Dogs started from myself [Jesse Inglima, lead guitarist and backing vocalist], my brother [Julian Inglima, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist], and some friends getting together for jam sessions. We’ve been a band for almost 3 years now and are based out of Athens, GA.
2. How would you describe your sound?
We like to call ourselves “High-Octane Rock ‘N’ Roll”. A lot of big guitar riffs, loud drums, and just high energy overall.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
Definitely a lot of groups from the ‘90s. We love grunge and bands like Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Audioslave. There’s plenty of newer groups we like too like Highly Suspect, Thrice, and Royal Blood.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
There’s a long conversation to be had about the state and evolution of the music industry in the last 20 years, but we’re fortunate in some sense to be operating as a band in a time when the digital music landscape is a lot more organized and navigable compared to its “Wild West” origins. We distribute our music almost exclusively digitally, so the ability for algorithms to monetize our song plays is something that we do our best to take full advantage of.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
I personally love to read. I love stories, so that includes movies and TV shows too, but I always have a book or book series that I’m reading.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
I think everyone’s future plans, with the COVID situation being what it is, are subject to change right now. We obviously want to keep doing everything we can to continue to grow as a band, but that remains difficult given that most true venues are still closed.
We spent the last year in the studio working on 6 new songs. We’ll be releasing them as singles over the coming months. Our first new single, “Black Fire”, is available to stream and download everywhere October 23rd.
