Album Review: Horde of Hel – Döden Nalkas (Blooddawn Productions/Regain Records)
Blooddawn Productions (distributed & marketed by Regain Records) is proud to present Horde of Hel’s long-awaited third album, Döden Nalkas, out September 30th 2020 on CD and vinyl.
The gates of hell are open and out comes the spawn of Satan in the form of Horde of Hel but they’re not alone. Their third album, an absolute beastly offering of black metal that will fill haters of the music with revulsion. Whereas lovers will find themselves gorging on the rotted remains of the corpses the band leaves in their wake.
This is a vicious album, one where the goal is to reveal their hellish creation to all willing ears. A misshapen and fierce creation, dripping in the scum of its birth and with a bloodlust. For 44 minutes and across 10 tracks, it deals out brutal slash after brutal slash, where nothing but a bloody mess will remain come the end.
Simply put, it’s the harshest of black metal played with old-school sensibilities and the clear knowledge that even a bit of modern atmosphere can help enhance the evilness of show. This helps some of the longer efforts (Visdomen Kallas døden and No Remorse) stand out from the shorter and faster offerings. It doesn’t stop each one being a hypothetical inferno but does keep things sounding varied.
