Band Interview: Chasing Apparitions

Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with modern melodic/metalcore band, Chasing Apparitions.

1. How did you get started as a band?

Chasing Apparitions originally started as a solo project by myself (Josey Stines), but as time passed he realized that I couldn’t do what I wanted by myself. I met Jacob Ortengren through social media & then we wrote the EP instrumentally. Our producer Jonathan Dolese recommended that Justin Stubbs do vocals on it & we instantly clicked.

2. How would you describe your sound?

I would describe Chasing Apparitions’ sound as a mix between Born of Osiris, Fit for a King, & Wage War. We have synth/piano elements, but we also bring some heavy breakdowns.

3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?

A few of our influences include Born of Osiris, Wage War, Architects, Bad Omens, Fit for a King, Northlane, among many others.

4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?

YouTube hasn’t really affected our band a lot seeing as we only post videos when we have new music out. Streaming however has made music more accessible than ever. I feel like streaming has forced local bands to up their game, because so many bands are now available at the listener’s fingertips.

5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?

When I’m not making music I really enjoy playing Apex Legends or working on some covers for my personal YouTube channel.

6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?

The future for Chasing Apparitions is bright. We have a new single titled “L’Appel Du Vide” coming out on 8.7.2020, with the EP, “Am I Worth Saving?” coming out shortly after. We’re not releasing the release date currently so make sure to follow us on our socials to stay up to date on everything we do.

As for touring, due to the COVID-19 pandemic I just don’t see that happening anytime soon. Maybe in 2021 when all of this starts to blow over & the music venues start opening back up we can look to do a tour or two.
