Horror Movie Review: Zoombies 2 (2019)
If you’d have told me prior to stumbling across this film that a prequel to the 2016 trash horror movie, Zoombies existed, I’d have scoffed. After all, no-one would be crazy enough to think there was money to be made there.
Yet here we are. Zoombies 2, released 3 years after the original and is somehow worse than the original. Zoombies was a terrible movie and to shock of probably no-one, Zoombies 2 is a terrible movie. You’ll have more fun with online casinos.
The plot surrounds a group of poachers who have sneaked into a wildlife reserve to steal some animals. One of them has crafted her own homemade knockout toxin that ends up being the cause of the zombie animal virus. It turns out the cause of the problems in the original movie started with…meerkats.
Before things can get too out of hand, the surviving poachers are captured by the park rangers and taken back to their base of operations. They try to tell the rangers about what is happening but who would believe that story?
That is until the outbreak spreads throughout the entire park and both sides are forced to team together to try and survive the chaos.
It sounds fun but be warned, it is not. In fact, it is incredibly dull. Filled with unlikable characters played by actors who are barely trying. Dialogue is awkward, no-one has any chemistry and the CGI is just as bad as the first film.
The hope that you’re going to see an array of zombified animals is realised. However, when they look like they belong in a early noughties video game there’s no wow factor. You’ll get a laugh out of them but not in the good way.
If by so miracle you make it all the way through the movie, your patience won’t be rewarded. You’ll just feel like you’ve wasted your time. Hopefully, this is it and we won’t be getting a Zoombies 3.
