Album Review: Aevum – Multiverse (DarkTunes)
Welcome to the Multiverse, where epic tunes and electronic elements encounter hard riffs, and where the charming voices of Lucille Nightshade and Hydra are carrying the ears and hearts of their fans from the third to another dimension.
The new album of Aevum is titled “Multiverse” and follows the footsteps of Bands like Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica and more. Love and affinity towards symphonic sounds, lifeblood, imaginativeness and much more has to be mentioned to handle such a task. And yet, the 8 musicians from France and Italy undeterred, follow that path.
Multiverse will be released on March 27th 2020.
As bombastic as you could hope for, Aevum start hot, fast, heavy and rarely slow down. With intensifying sequels of guitar, two different sets of vocals and a deep symphonic sound, The Pilgrim sets the epic scene nicely.
One set of vocals being male and gruff and the other female and clean serves Spark of Life well before Tair takes the epic and pushes it just that little bit further. Thanks in massive part to a kick-ass drum beat.
It’s Black Honeymoon that slows the pace down for a much more melodic track. A welcome change that shines with operatic-style vocals.
The Time Machine has all the energy and effects of a hyperactive dance track, Cold Spot is one of the heavier tracks on the album with some serious growl in the male vocals and Ulas is lifted by a set of kick-ass riffs.
Aevum certainly proving that they have plenty in the tank to match and take on the giants of symphonic metal. Even the initial worry that 13 tracks and 55 minutes worth of music would be too much is unfounded. By time the catchy groove of Hopeless and steaming power of Fratricide arrive, few will want it to end.
Far from done yet though, Aevem throw out some some absolute bangers in the latter part of the record. An eruption of heavy with WWIII, the fiery pomp and pageantry of Seeds, the absolute epic that is The Garden of Mars and enormous finale of Cessate ormai cessate.
Absolutely love it.
