Album Review: Wardaemonic – Acts of Repentance (Transcending Obscurity Records)
Australian black metal force Wardaemonic return with the mightiest album of their career. Acts of Repentance will be released on March 20th 2020 via Transcending Obscurity Records.
What we have here is intensity that only the sturdiest and darkest of black metal can deliver. Five acts of unrepentant noise, the racket Wardaemonic conjure up is perverted evil at its finest.
The retch inducing speed of Introspection, an early offering to all that is unholy and the vigour that scorches in Admission is truly the stuff both dreams and nightmares are made of. Wardaemonic are a band possessed and the potency that exists within their black metal mayhem remains long afterwards.
It bubbles and boils, slowly reaching its scalding point with Castigation. The eruption akin to the uproar of demonic armies venturing forth to conquer humanity and extinguish the light.
With two more acts to play out, the forces that beckon across the abyss only get stronger and more tantalising. Sufferance and Repentance serving up delightfully horrible black metal dishes. Enjoy until you can’t enjoy anymore, Acts of Repentance might be very filling but most will be back for more.
