Band Interview: Emily Daccarett

Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with pop/rock band Emily Daccarett.

1. How did you get started as an artist?

I’m a fashion designer and for my first runway show I produced a short fashion film. We didn’t have the time to wait for the music licence to be approved for Je t’aime Moi Non Plus, so we decided to work with a film composer Peace Nistades in LA. Because he knew I can write and speak French, he asked me to write a few lines in the studio, we worked on the song for the next couple of days and I fell in love with the process. I’ve been making music ever since then with Peace as my producer. I not your typical band and I work with different musicians depending on the show. The guys who play with me we met in music school, coming together is always fun.

2. How would you describe your sound?

It’s a blend of ‘80s pop, Dream pop, and ‘70s rock elements with a cinematic flair. Think of Blondie having a baby with David Lynch in 2025.

3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?

David Bowie, Blondie, Kate Bush, Vanessa Paradis, and Michael Jackson.

4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?

I’m a firm believer on the DIY artist route, so it has helped.

5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?

Watching movies, designing, illustration, editing pictures, and working out. I feel lost if I skip the gym lol.

6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?

I’m working on a song, scheduled to release on Valentines Day. I’m also working on an active wear line inspired by my ep, Cannibal. I don’t have any shows planned, but a lot of visual content is in the works!
