Game – Movie Review: Bad Ass Babes (2019)

I genuinely considered not writing a review for this movie. Simply because after watching it I couldn’t understand what the point of it was. However, after finding out it is based on/an accompaniment to a crude and gratuitous PC/Steam game of the same name, my mind was changed.

The video game Bad Ass Babes is a side-scrolling beat ‘em up in the vein of Streets of Rage but using realistic digitized graphics. It features nostalgic gameplay, a cheesy Sci-Fi plot and a whole load of nudity.

Which is exactly what the film does too, albeit a lot less fun as you’re not actively involved.

It is super important to go into Bad Ass Babes with an understanding that absolutely no-one is taking this seriously. So neither should you. Do that and it’s far more of an enjoyable watch.

The plot sees an alien invasion force arrive on Earth. The men are mutated and the women are rounded up for experiments involving alien/human hybrids. A handful of women, normally wearing very little clothing or none at all make the decision to fight back.

Cure plenty of blood and gore, a ton of nudity and hilariously bad action/horror.

A rating for Bad Ass Babes really isn’t going to matter. If we’re judging it on the same criteria we do all other films it would be lucky to get a 2 or 3 out of 10. It looks like crap, has some of the worst acting outside of a porno and goes way overboard with the nudity.

However, this isn’t supposed to be judged like so. It’s the equivalent of putting a college film project about Michael Myers up against the original Halloween. It’s absurd to do so, although Bad Ass Babes isn’t quite that amateur.

If you’re looking for some short entertainment that is absurdly gratuitous in regards to blood, guts and naked women then this is for you. Have low expectations, disconnect your brain and you’ll have a lot more fun with it!
