To Fathom the Master’s Grand Design is the sixth album for the Danish extreme metal institution Horned Almighty. Written over the course of five years, the material took form and evolved into a manifest of malignancy that describes the destruction of man! History has proven that evil exists on many levels, from the forces of nature to the human psyche.

Looking for something to warm your soul during a cold January month? Well, look no further then Horned Almighty’s fiery hot new record, To Fathom the Master’s Grand Design. Burning like the flames of hell or the fires that consume all as the planet destroys itself after decades of abuse. Violent Cosmology, Apocalyptic Wrath and Antagonism Eternal deliver grand heaviness of the blackened death metal variety. There’s a real nasty edge to this stuff.

Make no mistake, this is nasty album from beginning to end. Horned Almighty are filled with rage and the vitriol pours out them. They have a lot to say and it’s the crashing noise of Devouring Armageddon that delivers it with all the power of the end times.

A higher tempo has Swallowed By the Earth coming across unkempt and wild-eyed. Briefly slowing the beat down but still layered in nothing but bleakness. The Great Death and Punishment Divide are then even more abusive. A rabid wall of riffs and drums coming thick and fast. Thank goodness it’s almost over because it’s non-stop war on the ears.

It is over though as Witchcraft Demonology ignites the embers of a dead world for one final Horned Almighty assault. The sound of rain dampening and snuffing out any remaining life.
