Game Review: Five Kicks! (Mobile – Free to Play)
By chance did you play the Voodoo developed free to play game, Five Hoops?
The concept was as simple as it always is with Voodoo. Swipe the screen in the direction of the hoop. Get your ball in and you’ll move back a step. In total there are five different positions to get the ball in per level. To add some challenge, you’ll be facing off against opponents which the game claims to be other players.
Why am I talking about Five Hoops when this review is for a game called Five Kicks? Simply because they are the exact same game. Well, except for the obvious difference that here you ‘kick’ the ball instead of throwing it.
This review is for version 21.
I could literally cut and copy the review for Five Hoops, change the title and it would apply here. I’m not going too because that would be lazy but it’s not deserved considering just how lazy Five Kicks and Voodoo are.
Gameplay is exactly the same. Swipe the screen in the direction of the goal. Get your ball in and you’ll move back a step. In total there are five different positions to get the ball in per level.
Once again Voodoo suggests you’re playing against ‘millions of players worldwide’, just like Five Hoops. However I don’t believe this is true, instead they’re more then likely just bots with names that could imply they’re humans. There is just nothing to suggest that you’re actually playing against human players. I’d like to be wrong but considering just how little effort Voodoo put in, I can’t see them bothering to do this.
Again, just like Five Hoops, Five Kicks isn’t a terrible game. Its simple and addictive gameplay is a Voodoo trademark and you’ll find yourself sinking a fair amount of time into it. Provided you can put up with an ad after every single level.
Longevity comes from the usual. New skins for your character and skins for the balls unlocked by spending blue gems. Which are earned through gameplay or by watching ads. Seriously, if you’ve ever played a Voodoo game before, you know exactly what you’re getting here.
It is another Voodoo ‘ad experience’ where you’ll spend more time watching ads then actually playing. It’s a decent game but not decent enough to warrant this.
