Band Interview: Desoluna
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with heavy and melodic metal band, Desoluna.
1. How did you get started as a band?
We started out around February or march in 2013 right after I (Nadia) met Patrick. Once we started talking we realised that we shared the same ambitions when it comes to creating music and decided to start a band together.
2. How would you describe your sound?
Dark, heavy and very melodic. Those elements has always been the main key in our music.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
Paradise Lost for sure! My Dying Bride, Sisters of Mercy. Fields of the Nephilim have heavily influenced us as well. For me personally, in my singing, I took my inspiration from singers and bands like Linda Perry, Bonnie Tyler, Alanis Morrissette, Drain STH and Skunk Anansie.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
We are a underground, local band. If it weren’t for streaming services that is available for everyone to use, our possibilities to reach out with our music would definitely be very limited if not non-existent. Streaming services like Spotify and YouTube are the reasons why small bands like us might actually have a chance in this bizz.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Patrick recently became a father so he spends a lot of time with his family. He likes to go to art exhibitions every now and then. Olle, our drummer, is busy at the moment with another band. Personally I have been very much involved with a local theatre group called Orizon art and we put up our first show this last spring and plan to continue on with that.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We have a couple of songs that we plan on recording sooner or later. It might happen next year and who knows, maybe we´ll find a new bass player and start playing shows again.
