Album Review: The Bleeding – Morbid Prophecy (World War Now Records)

UK Extreme Metallers The Bleeding return with Morbid Prophecy, their hotly anticipated follow-up to 2018’s critically-acclaimed debut album, Rites of Absolution. Morbid Prophecy is set for release October 18th 2019 on World War Now Records.

Lead guitarist Tasos had this to say about the new album:

Morbid Prophecy’ is an aural descent into hell that encapsulates the saga of the fall of man. The themes of desperation, destruction and death echo through the album in a cacophony of damnation. Man enters the abyss and surrenders to the scale of horror he witnesses. With a ravaged mind he returns to deliver pain and suffering to the unbelievers.

Prophecy

The old-school death metal influences of this record can’t be ignored. It runs through the sound of the record like a throbbing infection and is plastered all over the front cover with that gruesome artwork. This is an old-school extreme metal record through and through but that’s not a knock because The Bleeding’s strength lies in the savagery they display here.

Savagery that comes in the form of a Demonic Oath, that disorientates with the Maelstrom and where the gates slowly creak open as we set about Entering the Pandemonium. It’s hellish, rough and very heavy led by evil and twisted vocals declaring the Morbid Prophecy.

It’s likely to make a believer out of most especially when it promises death and destruction from the Storm of the Hellspawn and redemption via the Sadistic Saviour. Fear not, Repentance is due and all you need to do is lie under the Hammer of Penance and let The Bleeding swing downwards.

A skull-crushing album.
