Album Review: Colored Moth – DIM (Wolves and Vibrancy Records)

Starting in 2013, Colored Moth are a young trio from Berlin determined to push the borders and tear apart all the ethics present on today’s music scene with their experimental and powerful combination of noise rock, post hardcore and screamo.

Their new album “DIM” follows up the band’s 2016 debut full-length “Fragmenting Tensions” and will be released on August 29th via Wolves and Vibrancy Records.

Unleashing plenty of pent up emotion, Colored Moth’s new album is a passionate affair. One that bleeds feeling in a noise rock raw way while forcing the mind to work overtime to keep up with the developing sound. It’s messy, it’s noisy and really intrusive but there is something about it that makes it memorable.

Is it the soft melodious tones of Maelstrom or C? The uncouth way in which Whataboutism enters hardcore territory with a screech and a blast?

The surprisingly long Der Blinde Uhrmacher that showcases flair and imagination with its post stylings? Truthfully, it’s all of it and more. An album of many different parts that don’t always coexist happily together but when they get along create something truly memorable.

Imaginative and unique, DIM stands out like a bright lighthouse in the murkiness of the night.
