Born, played riffs, will eventually die.
Stumbling drunk in to the UK underground in 2011. BongCauldron released their first EP through Superhot Records in 2013 and started grafting in an attempt to deafen as many people as possible up and down the country with their medly of sludge and thrash.
Supporting legends along the way such as Windhand, Acid King, Yob, Corrosion of Conformity and Eyehategod.
2017 saw the release of their debut album, “Binge” on APF records and their 3rd EP entitled Tyke, in 2018. You can read our review of Binge here.
They will be playing the Sophie Lancaster Stage on Friday the 9th August 2019.
Interview
1. Hello BongCauldron! Congratulations on getting on the bill of Bloodstock 2019. How are you feeling about making your Bloodstock debut?
Jay: I was convinced we’d never get on Bloodstock because of our name, but I guess the whole doom/stoner/sludge thing becoming more popular over the past few years opened a few doors for bands like us.
Ben: It’s great. Our gigs have been getting bigger and bigger in the last few years, but I don’t think the scale of this will hit us until we walk out on stage.
Biscuit: Can’t fucking wait.
2. Have you ever been to the festival before as attendees?
Ben: Yep, not since 2012 for me though.
Biscuit: Yeah, but mainly for the bin jousting.
3. How big of a platform is this for you? Your biggest show so far?
Biscuit: Definitely the biggest. Just hope our pub racket works on a bigger stage.
Ben: I spoke to someone who’s played it before the other day and he reckoned the tent is about 4000 capacity. So that’s not at all terrifying.
Jay: It’s a fucking whopper and it could be whopping.
4. You’re on the Sophie Lancaster Stage on Friday. What can Bloodstockers expect from your set?
Jay: Maximum swearing.
Biscuit: Three pissed up Yorkshire lads. It’s a dream to get to play that stage and we’re going to give it everything we’ve got. I remember seeing Cerebral Bore on that stage kick off a beast wall of death. I want to try beat it.
Ben: It’s also our last gig before we go on a hiatus, so they can expect a lot of energy and riling them up. Dance hard or die.
5. Are you there all weekend? If so who are you most looking forward to checking out yourself?
Jay: I’ve never seen Dani Filth shrieking live, so I’d have to say Widows on the New Blood stage.
Ben: Annoyingly I’ve got to fly back up the motorway straight afterwards to run someone’s wedding.
Biscuit: The Samaritans tent.
6. Your most recent release, Tyke went down a storm. This following your excellent debut album, Binge. You’re certainly keeping busy but what does the rest of 2019 look like for BongCauldron?
Ben: We’ve not been very busy to be honest. We’ve had two gigs and about four rehearsals this year. We’re off indefinitely after Bloodstock, so the rest of 2019 is looking fucking great.
