Horror Movie Review: Evil Bong 666 (2017)

With Evil Bong, Full Moon Pictures have sent any goodwill towards this series up in smoke with lacklustre sequel after sequel. Then throwing in characters from their other franchises and turning into into nothing more then Full Moon feature length advertisement.

It goes without saying that when it comes to a Full Moon Pictures movie you shouldn’t expect much. They’re often low-brow, low-budget horrors that make little sense and think they’re far funnier then they are. We have covered everything from their Puppet Master series to their Gingerdead Man Series and everything in between. We’re fans of Full Moon but they do release some stinkers.

The Evil Bong series hasn’t been worth watching for some time (if ever) and the franchise was burnt out way before we got to this stage. However, after such a horrid entry with Evil Bong: High-5 there was hope for this latest film simply because it couldn’t be worse, could it?

Well, it’s not but it’s mighty close.

Once again turning into a Full Moon roll call of actors and characters. This time the weed shop is owned and inhabited by Lucy Furr (Mindy Robinson). Who is looking to sacrifice someone to Satan. She eventually gets her wish after a really slow start. We catch up with the evil bong, Eebee and the Gingerdead Man who, if you watching part 5, were sent to Hell at the end.

Not just any Hell though…sexy Hell. That is literally what it is called in this. There we get a Satan who is a bit of an idiot, likes to get high and have orgies with his topless minions.

With a far bigger threat facing the world now, Eebee, The Gingerdead Man, Rabbit (Sonny Carl Davis) and more Full Moon characters have to team up to create The Gingerweed Man!

What a colossal mess this film is. I’ve tried to piece together the plot as best as possible but Evil Bong: 666 is an incoherent mess. It’s nonsense, more so then ever and ends up coming across as a load of stitched together scenes then anything else. Entertaining? Not in the slightest.

Even a returning Sonny Carl Davis as Rabbit can’t lift it and he is Full Moon royalty at this stage. However Larnell is nowhere to be found. It’s mentioned briefly that he is trapped and Rabbit can’t save him but that is it. He is as much a part of the Evil Bong series as Eebee herself is and his absence should tell you all you need to know about where this franchise is heading.

As always, the rubbish writing and general cheapness of it could be overlooked if Evil Bong: 666 made up for it elsewhere but it doesn’t. It’s incredibly unfunny and has even less horror then High-5. In fact, I genuinely wondered if I should review this considering we call ourselves a horror movie review site.

If you’ve stuck with the series this far then you’re unlikely to stop now but it’s probably time to check out. There’s nothing good coming from these films anymore. Time to pack the bong away and have a cup of tea instead.
