EP Review: Morbus – Grave Abomination (Redefining Darkness Records)
Italian death mongers Morbus Grave were spawned in 2010 with the goal to perform Death Metal the way it was intended – raw and rotten!
The band released their debut demo, Throne of Disgust, through Unholy Domain Records in 2016 and 2 years later, with the aid of Unholy Domain once again, released the Awakening of the Dead demo.
Morbus Grave have remained busy and have 3 new tracks of glorious old school death metal ready for you all to feast your ears upon! Out on July 26th 2019 via Redefining Darkness Records.
Pouring scorn and hate into three tracks of brutalising death metal, Morbus Grave are a throwback. A throwback to when death metal took no prisoners. When the idea of having melody in the extreme side of music was a dirty word. It’s very, very raw but like a healing scab, itchy and tempting to touch.
The intro/title track rushes out at you with clear violent intent as Morbus Grave attack with furious speed. The riffs warping the mind and twisting the soul. Next, The Horrible is an apt title as it slows things down for a filthy and guttural sound before speeding back to sear flesh from bone. That the final few minutes of the track goes with the gothic tones of an organ is unexpected.
Finally it’s the super short Violently Deceased to ensure what we remember about Morbus Grave is their ability to maim and destroy.
