Album Review: Turbocharged – Above Lords, Below Earth (GFY Productions)
Nineteen years into their lifespan, Turbocharged now returns with their fifth full-length album! With titles like “AntiXtian”, “Area 666”, “Militant” and “Apocalyptic” in their discography you know that it’s going to get ugly once again. The upcoming release, “Above Lords, Below Earth” contains twelve songs of filthy blasphemies launched with full energy straight into your skull. It will be released on the 1st June 2019 via GFY Productions.
It is a ugly release. Turbocharged is an apt name as the style of death/punk-infused metal this band play is unpleasant and angry sounding. They burn bright with malicious intentions clearly aiming to crush skulls and grind bones into a fine powder.
From The Crawling Path of Worms all the way through to Unholy Deathpunk, this album puts the boot in and doesn’t let up. You’re not going to want it too though, as the scummy groove and spiteful metal just sits so right in the mind.
Doomsday Hammer is one in particular that thrills with its aggression while Low-tech Blasphemy thrums with threat and spits out an exciting guitar solo too!
Then we have the likes of Obscurant and The Burning of the Redeemer that rage with uncontrolled raw dominance, Heavy as hell but pulling at the neck muscles as the riffs go wild, the bass hums like an angry hive of bees and the vocals strike terror in the hearts of all that is good.
An ugly but appealing release!
