Album Review: Trigger Cut – Buster (Self Released)
Trigger Cut are a three piece noise rock unit hailing from Germany. Their new album ‘Buster’ is out now.
What’s kind of interesting about Trigger Cut’s brand of noise rock is how it’s often played at a slower tempo. Speed isn’t necessary here for the three piece to show off their raw and uncultivated sound.
The punky punch of the vocals and guitars mixed with pained yelps grabs the attention on opener, Hellcat Bob. Here we see just how noisy the band can be, giving off a real garage band vibe.
There’s something so damn cool and intriguing in how the guitars and drums conflict so heavily with the vocals. The likes of Transfer, King of Inks and Pony Pony show that Trigger Cut has an ear for memorable rock rhythm as much as they do delivering fresh rawness.
It’s as often as odd as you could ever hope noise rock to be but with an additive listening quality. The kind that sees you hitting repeat just so you can ensure you didn’t imagine what you just heard. Especially once you’ve heard the likes of Free Hugs and the excellent Mute Driver.
