Album Review: Omega Diatribe – Trinity (Metal Scrap Records)

There’s a secret ancient writing stem from an unknown alien civilization, a contract between Humans and Aliens about the use of the planet Earth. The government calls it “Omega Diatribe”. This contract says Humans could only use the Earth in a limited time. Overtime is not allowed.

Trinity is the latest album from Omega Diatribe and was released worldwide by Metal Scrap Records in April of 2018. Produced by the legendary Danish producer Tue Madsen (also worked with Sick Of It All, Madball, Meshuggah, Sucide Silence, The Haunted…etc).

Omega Diatribe 2

Are you ready to lose your shit!? You better be as Omega Diatribe are ready to provide the tools. This 12-track album is a meaty slice of groove metal, one that brings hardcore rhythm, old-school riffing and punchy breakdowns.

The smash-mouth approach is incredibly appealing, the energy is high and the groove gets under the skin demanding you give your all to the likes of Souls Collide and Spinal Cord Fusion. An early pair of tracks that showcase everything great about Omega Diatribe. The latter in particular is a deep cut of cracking metal.

Their no-nonsense approach to heaviness is admirable and like a wave, the constant bludgeoning washes over reaching desensitising levels. There is no give, there is no let-up…just a constant barrage of fury sent our way and let’s be honest, we wouldn’t want it any other way.

The highlights come in the latter part of the album with Chain Reaction and Denying Our Reality. The former’s beat getting so low and dirty it reaches death metal levels and the roar of “still alive” ringing as true as anything. While the latter’s slower rhythm highlights some absolutely killer riffing and bit more technical proficiency.

You might think it will start to bore or blend together by time we reach the final few tracks but Omega Diatribe still offer plenty of variety in their groove metal sound. Simply put the final few tracks, Wraith and Tukdam are as exciting as what came at the very start.

One of the best groove metal albums of 2018.
