Album Review: Trollkjerring – Whistle And I’ll Come To You (Under The Weeping Cherry Tree) (Pacific Threnodies)
A new offering from Lord Conifer (Acheulean Forests, The Spirit Of Iuvenium, etc). At once menacing and almost uncomfortably intimate, “Whistle And I’ll Come To You” passes through haunting drones, dark ambience, foreboding atmospheres, and flourishes of blackened neoclassical through the half hour it occupies.
Recommended for listeners of Vond, Moëvöt, Diagnose: Lebensgefahr, Sopor Aeternus, etc.
It comes in an extremely limited edition of 50 pro-tapes, housed in 4×4 black boxes with album art and full-colour inner O-card; to be shipped February 25th 2019 via Pacific Threnodies.
All about dark ambience and evilly twisted atmosphere, Whistle and I’ll Come to You (Under the Weeping Cherry Tree) aim is to leave you feeling lost and alone. It’s uncomfortable to listen too, upsetting at times and will leave you with dark thoughts.
No one track stands out alone, the entire album needs to be heard as one complete thing. Each moment of horror and sadness testament to the complete experience. This is the sound of loneliness beginning with My Enslavement to Her Green Eyes through to Her Body Changes Before Me and I Feel Locked Out.
Simply put if you’re looking for something to match your dark mood then this album will provide. Beyond that it’s so niche it’s not going to have mass consumption. However that doesn’t mean it’s not in the higher bracket of ambient atmospheric works out there.
