Band Interview: Good Times & Company
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with indie rock band, Good Times & Company.
1. How did you get started as a band?
We started off as a 3-piece group when I (Clint Kesinger- Vocals/Guitar) decided to take my acoustic project full band. We added Shad Baldes on bass and Kyle Wells on guitar, started gigging around regularly and writing nonstop. We released a couple well received EPs before adding Keagan Cross on guitar in 2017.
2. How would you describe your sound?
Catchy, honest alternative indie rock.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
As a group, I’d say Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, The Growlers, The 1975, Primus, Nirvana, The Black Keys, Radiohead, Highly Suspect, Royal Blood, Holy White Hounds, DMAs, Hockey Dad, Mac Demarco, SKEGGS, Sticky Fingers, The Beatles, The Kooks, Cage the Elephant, and Junior Kimbrough, to name a few.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
It’s hard to say for sure, but I think it’s actually helped. We have never been in a world where streaming wasn’t the primary form of music consumption. The internet is the world’s largest stage and it sits at our fingertips. Without this modern landscape of the music industry, we would have had to tour non-stop get the exposure we have received from streaming. It is because of streaming and social media combined that we have an international following.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Personally, I don’t do much else. I enjoy playing video games with my wife, while the rest of the group really enjoys fishing. Keagan plays a lot of video games, but he is also a hard worker, he stays busy!
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We are recording our new album in January 2019. That is our main focus and we are ecstatic to put it together. We have a whole new sound. Touring will happen this summer domestically, but we hope to be able to visit our friends overseas in winter 2020!
