Album Review: Pulverized – Monuments of Misanthropy (Krucyator Productions)
Chilean cadavers Pulverized awoke in the city of Santiago in 2006. They perform death metal with strong American influences from the early ’90s, without leaving behind the essences of the glorious South American extreme metal scene. Their lyrical themes touch upon thoughts about life, death, Christianity and its moral decadence in Western Society.
Monuments of Misanthropy is their impending debut album out on October 13th 2018 via Krucyator Productions.
Filth. That is what Monuments of Misanthropy is. Filth. A six-track record that is every bit as brutalising as death metal can possibly be. From the sharpened riffs that cut deeply to the guttural vocals that sound mired in death and destruction, this is a record for fans of all things heavy.
There isn’t a lot to say about this album as it is in no way breaking new ground in the death metal market. Instead, it’s a tribute to the sound of the past and as such, hardly feels fresh or unique.
That does not make it a bad listen though. It does leave an impression especially with the raging fire of Consumed By Ignorance and the battering riffing of In the Depths of Insanity. With two of the tracks (Cadáveres and Profecía-Flagelo-Extinción) passing the 8 minute mark there is certainly no holding back from Pulverized but it does get a little repetitive after a while.
There isn’t an arugment about if Pulverized have delivered a good death metal release here because they have. It ticks all the right boxes and few extra on its way too but it just doesn’t do enough to make it a great album.
