Single Slam: Deathwish – A Divine Tragedy (Self Released)
Last October, Belgium based death metal/metalcore band, Deathwish released their self-titled debut EP. A release we absolutely loved and you can read our review of it here. Eleven months later and they’re back with a three-track single, entitled A Divine Tragedy.
The track itself is confirmation that the EP wasn’t a one-off or fluke. Deathwish are a powerful force in metal. Showing off that impressive combination of bruising heaviness, crunchy riffs and terrorising vocals. Coming in at just over 3 minutes, the beat ticks along nicely up until the final 30 or so seconds where everything is brought down really low and slow adding a huge amount of weight to the overall experience. A huge track that will please fans but does show forward thinking on the part of Deathwish.
Then as an added bonus, the band are kind enough to give fans a bit more with the dirty doom like moments of Resilience. Switching between tempos as effortlessly as possible, it is a disgustingly good track.
As is Vale of Tears, the spoken-word like vocals alongside meaty riffs ensuring this is an unforgettable release. Deathwish are the real deal.
