Single Slam – Asylum by Scars of Credence
Scars of Credence are a young, five-piece metal band based in Stoke-on-Trent in the UK. Already looking to make an impression, they have released their debut single called, Asylum!
As we’ve talked many times in the past when it comes to metalcore, you need to be something special to stand out. It’s a sub-genre overrun by run of the mill bands desperate to get a piece of the pie that the bigger bands are hoarding. It’s not a sub-genre of metal that has much variety or imagination.
Thankfully that is not the case with Scars of Credence and after listening to Asylum they could easily become a powerhouse of the genre years down the line.
An energetic song, the roar of defiance at the start tells you all you need to know about Scars of Credence. They’re here to fuck you up and you’re going to be so thankful they did. Delivering a groove-laden track that is heavy on the riffs while the drums blast away.
Tight as hell, Asylum lights a fire and it gets out of control so quickly all you can do is stand back and watch as it consumes everything. The highlight is the breakdown that comes in the latter half. If that doesn’t get your blood pumping, you’re probably dead.
Fucking great work!
