Bloodstock 2018 – Band Feature/Interview: Fire Red Empress

This year’s Bloodstock Festival is shaping up to be one of the best ever with a line-up that spans all genres of rock and metal. If you haven’t picked up your tickets yet, what are you waiting for!? Check out our five reasons why you should go there.

No strangers to Bloodstock having played there in 2015, Fire Red Empress make their welcome return to the festival with a new vocalist and fresh energy! We caught them live back when they played in 2015 and they were one of the highlights.

Standing out on this year’s line-up thanks to a more groove-laden rock sound, Fire Red Empress will take to the Sophie Lancaster stage on Thursday evening. Their radio friendly, hard-rock rhythms have seen them grow and grow into one of the most exciting up and comers.

Check out their website, Facebook Page, Twitter and Instagram. You can also pick up their merchandise and music here.

Their well received latest album, Black Morphine was released in 2017 and you check that out below.

Interview

1. Welcome back to Bloodstock! It’s been three years since you last played! How are you feeling about getting back on the Sophie Stage?

We’re all really excited to be back! It’s an awesome Festival and to be invited back again means a lot to us. It’s the first time Jen has played Bloodstock so we’ve been telling her how awesome it is.

2. You’ve had some changes in your line-up since you last played Bloodstock. What brought that about if you don’t mind us asking?

It’s just one of those things to be honest. Our first singer Nik took a different path and that’s just the way it is. We’re still mates and life is way too short.

3. What was it like working with Brian Tatler of Diamond Head on your debut, Black Morphine?

It was a real honour. He’s just a great guy and obviously very influential. I loved Diamond Head growing up and going to his house to jam on riffs was a bit surreal!

4. Any chance of some new music being debuted at the festival?

We’re writing loads of stuff at the moment so there is a chance of something new if we finish anything in time!

5. Are you going to be around the festival all weekend? If so who are you excited to see?

Yes a couple of us are there for the whole weekend. There are loads of great bands but the ones i’m most looking forward to seeing are Gojira and Pallbearer. Both are amazing!
