EP Review: Naisian – Rejoinder (Self Released)
Rejoinder is the new EP from noisemakers Naisian. Out on July 6th 2018, it is their return after 5 years in the wilderness. Splitting years ago to then join the likes of Awooga, Air Force Chron, and Pjaro, Naisian are back with 3 tracks of primitive meaty noisiness.
There’s a really deep and grimy sound to Naisian and their new EP, Rejoinder. The filthy fuzziness is incredibly heavy on bass and for three tracks the band drag you down to their noisy level starting with 90ft. Stone. A hell of a start, the hoarse, shouted vocals adds a real sense of rawness to things.
Mantis Rising continues that excellent start with echoing riffs and even gruffer vocals before Lefole rounds things off with a slightly different sound. In that it has a little more lightness with cleaner guitar strumming. It still has a dark edge to it but contrast well against the deeper and dirtier moments.
Naisian will leave a deep impression on your psyche with Rejoinder.
