EP Review: Holy Pinto – Tales from the Travelling T-shirt Salesman (Halloween Records)
Holy Pinto are an indie pop punk band formed in 2013 and consisting of Aymen Saleh and Ryan Hurley. They are heavily influenced by bands such as Death Cab for Cutie, The Front Bottoms and Jimmy Eat World. Their new EP entitled Tales from the Travelling T-shirt Salesman will be released on June 22nd 2018.
Lightness and sweetness…those are the words that come to mind while listening to Holy Pinto’s new EP. Gold Leaf exemplifies that with a soft indie rock beat and sharp lyrics. Salt brings forth the more pop-punk elements with a much more bouncy rhythm, Bitter Enemies leans more to the rock side of things and Very Adult is a pacey, punkish tune.
All excellent tracks with a wonderfully clean sound that highlights the stellar musicianship on show here.
The EP closes out with the melodious and groovy King, a perfect showcase of the wickedly good vocal performance. All while adding some extra touches to show Holy Pinto have plenty more in the tank.
