EP Review: Deus Vermin – Monument to Decay (F H E D Records)

Following on from their excellent demo released last year (MMXVII – read our review here), Deus Vermin are now set to release their debut EP, Monument To Decay on cassette via F H E D Records on the 15th June 2018.

Deus Vermin 1

Six tracks (plus an intro) of pummelling death metal, Deus Vermin assault the senses with a furious pace. There is no fight back, only submission as Swarms comes at you with the full force of everything good about extreme music.

That intensity never lets up but doesn’t overshadow the rhythm that exists in Iniquity and Worms. The latter’s slower doom approach is one of the best moments of an incredibly dark and heavy EP.

The final few tracks fly by in a blur of ferocious drum beats, screeching riffs and hell-born guttural vocals. Shrine makes a valiant effort to be the heaviest track on the EP and Planetary Illness stamps down hard before grinding its heel into the bone.

A very impressive effort. Deus Vermin are one to watch.
