Band Interview: Fear the Fallen
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are very pleased to being you an interview with UK hard-rock band, Fear the Fallen.
1. How did you get started as a band?
The way all the best ideas come about – a drunk night in 2010. Sam, Rob and Christian were having a few drinks and decided to start a band. They joined together with a reggae drummer and a lead guitarist/fiddle player and thus, the band was created! There has been a few changes along the way, our current drummer, Matt, joined in 2014 and now, Lead Guitarist, Dan joined in 2015.
2. How would you describe your sound?
Heavy, melodic rock. There’s other flavours of genres, but that’s the majority of the sound.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
A lot really, but mainly Alter Bridge, TesseracT, Linkin Park and Architects. We take different influence from each band, the feel of Alter Bridge, riffs from Architects, ambience from TesseracT and vocals from Linkin Park.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
Both, it’s opened up the flood gates for bands and artists. As a fan, it’s fantastic to be able to get more information, more music and content from bands, but it’s made some songs slightly more “throw away”. Music videos are just a flash in a pan now, there’s a lot of noise out there. It’s easier to get out there, but a lot harder to be noticed. Bands are a lot less reliant on record labels, as you can get your music straight to the fans at very little cost – if you know what you’re doing.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Drinking mainly, but we do all have our other interests. Sam and Christian have a drag act that they do when the band aren’t gigging, entitled “Motown in Hot Pants” and Dan enjoys Cuban and Salsa dancing. All jokes aside, we all have kids (apart from Dan) whom we enjoy spending time with, Dans life is music – whenever we aren’t gigging, he’s writing or mixing or something like that.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We are looking to get out on the road and take FTF to the people that really matter – our fans. They have been amazing so far and we want to make them proud to be a part of the FTF family. All futures are uncertain, but we have the drive and determination to forge our own path… Here’s to the journey and everyone we meet along the way!
