EP Review: Vampillia – Happiness Brought By Endless Sorrow (Temple Of Torturous Records)

Self-defined as a brutal orchestra, Vampillia is a 10-piece group from Osaka, Japan. Happiness Brought By Endless Sorrow is their new EP out on May 4th via Temple of Torturous Records.

Vampillia 2

Pushing and blurring the boundaries of sonic extremities with a blend of heavy metal, post-rock, ambient noise, progressive elements and industrial sounds. They’re a melting pot of intensity as shown by Winter Ash, an opener that is a wild maelstrom of metal.

The 4 tracks that make up Happiness Brought By Endless Sorrow are short with only one going beyond a minute and a half. The same kind of speed you often associate with grindcore is constant as the oddly titled Ggggzzgggzzz roars with eye-watering levels of noise and Hell PM spits venomous bile.

It’s noisy and very unique but it’s certainly one that might leave a few feeling turned off.
