EP Review: Affasia – Adrift in Remorse (Transcending Records)

Richmond, VA Dark/Atmospheric Metal group Affasia will release debut EP ‘Adrift in Remorse’ on February 23rd via Transcending Records.

The melodic metal that greets the listener on Another Host is filled with all manner of oddities. Sorrowful vocals built around doomy riffs, atmospheric sounds & an undercurrent of shoegaze running through it. It’s a strong start, especially when it shows of flashes of harder, death metal hostility.

The blending of genres to create really inspired metal continues with the outstanding Dissolute & the huge Brittle Sentiment. The latter in particular really showing off a hefty amount of guitar talent.

As You Never Were proves to be the highlight with a wonderful mix of classic sounding melody, powerful death metal roars & smooth, eerie highs.
