1. How did you get started as a band?

Plastic Barricades with different rhythm sections was around for the best part of the decade. The current line-up with Daniele Borgato on bass and Frazer Webster on drums has been active for 4 years.

2. How would you describe your sound?

Here is a poem for you:

Shimmering bass and ringing guitars
Meaningful lyrics healing your scars
Heart-breaking beat put on repeat
Mystical keyboards make us complete

Curious, happy, honest and sad
Future of mankind makes us gloomy and mad
Don’t try to run, nowhere to hide
There is no escape from our little Plastic Tribe!

3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?

All three of us actually have very different musical tastes, Frazer is heavily into fusion and Snarky Puppy, while Daniele is in love with Led Zeppelin and 1970s rock. I was always deeply fond of Nirvana, Oasis, Coldplay and Muse, over the last couple of years The Shins, Two Door Cinema Club, Biffy Clyro and Death Cab for Cutie are in my playlists a lot.

4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?

Of course it helped! Don’t believe anyone who says otherwise.

Our new album “Mechanics of Life” came out two weeks ago – and we are getting raving reviews from all around the world, including USA and Australia. This can only happy because our music is available worldwide via Spotify and iTunes. 10 years ago we would still need to print CDs, set up distribution, store the stock in warehouses. It is much much easier to reach a wide audience today, even without an extremely huge budget.

5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?

I do find my inner peace in restoring vintage guitars, this helps take the mind off the band routines. When there are no vintage guitars around I usually try to find inspiration in reading and also writing.

6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?

Our debut LP “Mechanics of Life” took 3 years to complete and we are currently touring the UK with the album.

Gigs all around the country are a great way to figure out how to translate the album sound live – and we are constantly improving the rig and the set. November is set aside for songwriting and outlining the shape of LP number 2. European tour for 2018 is currently in the works, with France, Belgium, Germany and Netherlands as the first leg.

And here is how a goldfish can conquer the world.
