Band Interview: Exmordium (Evan French – Drummer/Lyricist)

Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are very proud to bring you an interview with Evan French (Drummer/Lyricist) to discuss his extreme metal band, Exmordium!

Exmordium 1

1. How did you get started as a band?

Exmordium started as me and the guitarist Evan Page in this other band together in high school, playing very weak boring music, so we figured why not break off and do our own thing, our own way. So we did.

2. How would you describe your sound?

Of course extreme metal with a range of influence and sound. Fast black metal, with heavy metal power, thrash hooks and crunch with death metal grooves. Simple and complex arrangements with classical interludes. Listen for yourself…

3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?

The second wave of black metal bands in the early ’90s such as Darkthrone, Immortal, and Dissection. Also the old school death metal scene like Deicide, Autopsy, and Grave. Not by any means restricted to just death/black metal – many classical, folk, and jazz influences as well.

4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?

It can only hinder you if you’re in it for the money – which isn’t art, but business – which music isn’t.

5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?

Writing poetry, collecting music, discovering art, music, and knowledge, hiking in nature, utilizing this life.

6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?

Currently we are on a hiatus from performing live to focus more on our personal lives and endeavours. We continue searching, practising, and writing in the time being. Wait and see….

-Not everything is how it seems-

We’d like to thank Evan French of Exmordium for taking the time to speak with us & Dewar PR for arranging it. You can pick up some of the band’s music over on Bandcamp & find out more about them on Facebook.
