The second chapter in the Grim Legends series takes place in the Eagle Kingdom. A famous healer is asked to come to the castle to look into a mysterious illness that has befallen the Queen. What she uncovers though is a conspiracy involving dark magic, royal politicking & a curse that goes far deeper than anyone could have expected.
It’s a great story & one that you won’t have needed to play the first one to understand at all. Told through short cut-scenes & conversations with a wide array of characters, it keeps you hooked right up to the very end.
An immersive, gorgeous & hand-painted world, Grim Legends 2 is one of the most imaginative & exciting games Artifex Mundi have released so far. The story is strong, the puzzles a mix of easy & challenging with a number of tried & tested ideas returning.
Simple & intuitive controls, make exploring each hand-painted scene a joy. Finding objects, working out where they go & how you need to progress is simple & fun. Of course if you’re struggling there is always the hint button. As well as the skip option if you’re struggling with a particular mini-game/puzzle.
Grim Legends 2 has a wide array of mini-games & hidden object scenes. These break up the point & click element nicely They’re spaced apart well & never feel like they’re just there to impede your progress.
The game can be completed in a number of hours without much effort. Replay value comes with the expert difficulty & an additional bonus chapter that expands on the story from two different perspectives. An extra hour or so of content, it’s a nice addition. Especially if you have already played the game when it was first released on Steam in 2014.
One of the best Artifex Mundi games to be released on the Xbox One. Further proof that this is a genre that they have zero competition in.
