Horror Short Review: Attack of the Killer Refrigerator (1990)
This horror short (only 15 minutes long) is one of the most famous early examples of how good something could be with a shoe-string budget. Attack of the Killer Refrigerator was made for $25.
Created by Mark Veau & Michael Savino while in college they borrowed equipment & filled the roles with friends & family.
A refrigerator decides to go on a killing rampage after suffering too much abuse. At a party it watches in dismay as the party-goers chip away at the ice inside for their drinks. The next day, it decides to take it’s revenge in beautiful gory & hilarious fashion.
A surprisingly fun short. The lack of a script results in some unintentionally amusing lines of dialogue. The cast have a lot of charm thanks to their in-ability to act & it’s nice to see such personality put into a household appliance.
Attack of the Killer Refrigerator has a serious cult following & it’s easy to see why. 25 dollars!
Amazingly this is not the only horror out there about a killer kitchen appliance & in 1991 The Refrigerator would be released. Click here to read a review of that thrash!
