EP Review: Hollow Leg – Murder (Argonauta Records)
The doom/sludge metal band, Hollow Leg return with a two-track EP called Murder & is released on March 3rd 2017 via Argonauta Records.
A super short EP from Hollow Leg opens with the sexy sounding sludge rock beat of Raven. It builds slightly then erupts into a much harder sound all with that original riff circling around in the background. It’s sultry stuff especially with the slightly off-colour vocals, sounding as though they’ve been dipped in gravel.
The midpoint sees the song move in a different direction. Everything dropping away to leave just a bass/drum beat with a little bit of guitar to punctuate it when it returns to higher points. It’s a really great combination of doom & sludge metal.
The second & final track, Murder goes for something a little different. An upbeat guitar intro leads into some fast-paced riffing that gets the mind bouncing. It’s got some serious weight behind it’s guitar tunes all backed up by a thrilling drum beat & complimented by the gravely vocals. A simply stunning song & one that leaves you begging for more.
With such a short EP anything but brilliance would be a serious problem but thankfully Hollow Leg has no such problems.
