Horror Movie Review: Class of Nuke ‘Em High 3 – The Good, The Bad & The Subhumanoid (1994)

The third movie in the Class of Nuke ‘Em High series continues the trend set up by the first two by being utterly absurd yet incredibly watchable.

The movie opens showing the events that occurred at the end of Class of Nuke ‘Em High 2: Subhumaniod Meltdown. The mutant squirrel Tromie’s rampage comes to and end & life in Tromaville goes back to normal.

Roger Smith, the star of the 2nd movie has twins with his subhumaniod girlfriend but he is only aware of the birth of one. You see while he is distracted, Dr Slag, Ph. D & his minions kidnap the first born child (Dick) & raise him to be evil. The second is Adlai & he is raised to be a kind & caring individual exactly like this Dad.

Exactly like his Dad…you see as the children of a human & subhumaniod mating both Dick & Adlai grow up super-fast (full sized adults in 2 years). They also both share their father’s looks & physic but that’s probably because they are played by the same actor!

Brick Bronsky plays the parts of Roger, Dick & Adlai in this sequel & while he’s a perfectly decent actor it’s a little too much of the same characteristics to be that enjoyable.

Years later, the boys have grown up & a school has opened up inside the newly rebuilt nuclear power station. Adlai & his ‘wet nurse’ are now dating & attending the school while Dick has been trained to be a violent thug.

Dr. Slag, Ph. D uses the similarities between the twins to frame Adlai & turn the town against him. This all part of the doctors plan to destroy Tromaville once & for all. It’s up Adlai to save the day!

Class of Nuke ‘Em High 3 is a lot fun, which is hardly a surprise. It’s got the usual Troma humour with a nice sprinkling of nudity, gore & violence. It’s probably the dumbest in the series so far though & you can kind of see that the ideas are running out.

Brick Bronsky is a decent actor but taking on 3 roles here it all gets a bit too much. Almost all screen time is dedicated to one of his characters & it does get very tiresome by the end. Adlai is far too similar to Roger; his muscle-heavy, slightly dim but caring style makes him very likable. He just doesn’t have as much of a compelling story to work with & while he has fun with the evil Dick it doesn’t really gel as well.

The rest of the cast are either terrible or ham it up to such an extent that all you can do is roll your eyes. It’s often cringe-worthy & you have to know exactly what Troma & Class of Nuke ‘Em High’s humour is like to really get anything out of it. It’s not exactly funny, you’re not going to be rolling around laughing out loud but it does have a certain charm.

Unfortunately it is the worst of the series & far inferior to many other Troma movie releases.
