Horror Short Review: The Tall Man (2024)

From Buried Hatchet Productions and writer/director Vincent Dormani comes the horror short, The Tall Man. An impressively made film with a stylish look, a solid story, and gruesome ending.

The story revolves around Jeffery Marks III (Sean Doty) who is looking into the detail of the tallest person in history (Hayden Downs), specifically the events that lead to his death. A dark event that directly involves his family and may have resulted in their name being cursed.

Of course, that’s just superstitious nonsense. That’s what Jeffery Marks III thinks, but unfortunately, he’s about to find out that The Tall Man wants revenge, and he is the latest in a line to feel his deadly wrath.

Highly atmospheric with dark and creepy vibes, The Tall Man is effective, especially as it doesn’t pretend to be doing anything particularly special. It’s a curse, and with that comes supernatural antics, which is bad news for a character. It just so happens that the supernatural antics of The Tall Man are quite chilling, especially when he emerges from the wall sheet.

Vincent Dormani shoots the character well too, making him feel tall and gangly, but also exuding a lot of threat. Once he puts his hand around your throat, there’s nothing you can do (although the grey face effect that happens here isn’t too good). It’s a short well worth checking out and you can, below.
