Horror Short Review: Don’t Stare (2024)

A highly impressive horror short from writer and director Ville Rajala, Don’t Stare is all about atmosphere and tension. So, if you’re expecting a jump-scare-athon that spells every little detail out, you’re not going to enjoy this.

However, everyone else is going to be delighted with the unnerving subtly of this short. Which simply tells the story of a man waiting for something… or someone. Through visual cues, a brief phone call with a family member, and a cleverly shot day/night cycle, it’s clear that he is happy to wait for as long as it takes.

No spoilers, but the final section of this short is incredibly chilling and the fact that it just ends, sets the imagination aflame. Putting it simply, tonight, you might look at the darkness of a room through an open door in a different way having seen this horror short.

Definitely check this one out below.
