EP Review: H-A-N-N-A-H – Turbulent Velocity (Self Released)
Emerging artist H-A-N-N-A-H, the newest project from Hannah Fieldhouse (formerly of Winter Storm UK), will release her debut EP, ‘Turbulent Velocity’, on September 20th, 2024. The EP features collaborations with renowned double kick master Patryk Kaczmarek (Infested Angel) and guitarist Richard Jevons (Face Of A Stranger, Burning The Padre).
The dynamism of this EP is on delightful display from the start with a brash showcase of groovy and progressively tinted guitar rhythm and melody. Backed by hefty drum beats, it’s rare you find an Intro as elaborate as this. Which goes some way as to showcasing the ambition of H-A-N-N-A-H and the vitality of this mostly instrumental release.
Something that continues to be showcased with mighty aplomb as the EP expands and the deeper aspects of H-A-N-N-A-H is displayed in even more lovable ways via wandering efforts like Cyclic Patterns and dreamy delights like Music for Sleep. The latter offering up a taste of vocals, fitting the lighter vibe nicely.
How about Escape from Acceleration though? This is the most energised and heavy sounding track of the EP, but even though it has a thicker sound, it’s still thrillingly rhythmic, almost dramatic to some degree. Followed then by an Outro as powerful as the Intro, albeit from a more laidback place. H-A-N-N-A-H closing things out in stylish fashion and putting the cherry on top of this impressive release.
