Hidden Mothers – Defanged

The progressive post-hardcore band from Sheffield, UK, Hidden Mothers have announced their long-awaited debut album ‘Erosion / Avulsion’ will be released on November 29th, 2024, via Church Road Records. In addition to this announcement, the band has also now released the first single from the album called ‘Defanged’.

Few bands would have been able to cultivate a fanbase as rabid as Hidden Mothers’ have without having released a full-length album, but that’s the quality of this band. To call this album ‘much-anticipated’ is to underplay just how big of a deal it is and that vibe is only heightened when a track like this emerges. A stunning showcase of Hidden Mothers’ intense pot-hardcore stylings that has thick atmosphere, dazzling melody, and big progressively tinged turns. It’s a gob-smacking release that says a hell of a lot about this upcoming full-length.

Grimgotts – Riding to Destiny

‘Riding to Destiny’ is the third single from power and symphonic metal band, Grimgotts’ upcoming new album, ‘The Time of the Wolfrider’. The new album tells the tale of a great warrior, whose destiny is intertwined with the fate of the world.

Anticipation has now reached feverish levels and this new album is desperately desired, especially now the ears have been subjected to Riding to Destiny. A glorious Grimgotts spectacle that continues to showcase how stronger their sound is on this new album. Sure, it’s power metal, but it’s power metal at its most infectious and this new track is up there with the catchiest stuff they’ve done to date. It’s time to mount up, take the reins, and charge. Roses Unread – Brand New Me

Roses Unread, the rock, pop, and alternative band are back with a brand-new single and video, ‘Brand New Me’.

It’s a banger, let’s get that out of the way to begin with, but you already know this as Roses Unread are consistently strong. Still, it’s heartening to see them constantly reach a high plateau and find new ways to thrill. This heartfelt and powerful anthem does that via a strong combination of groovy sounding riffs, soaring vocals, and a chorus that is wonderfully catchy.

Abramelin – Conflagration of the Dreamers

Australian death metal titans Abramelin are proud to announce their upcoming fourth album ‘Sins of the Father’, due out October 4 via Hammerheart Records. The new single – ‘Conflagration of the Dreamers’ is out now.

Four-plus minutes of savagery is the simplest way to sum up the nasty noise that Abramelin have to offer with this new single. Delivering a cacophony of death metal heaviness, speed, and intensity. The equivalent of being battered around the back of the head over and over again by the riff and drum combo, all while the vocals snarl and spit in the face. It’s really good. Check it out here.

Akkadian – Mirror Soul

Cambridge progressive metal outfit, Akkadian, are back with their new single ‘Mirror Soul’, which comes ahead of the band’s appearance at Bloodstock Festival, Sunday 11th August at 2:15pm, on the New Blood Stage.

‘Mirror Soul’ explores a psychedelic journey between two lovers stripped down to a spiritual level. Together, they embark on a journey through space and time, momentarily shedding their physical forms. As their souls converge beyond the realm of Earth, they experience an intense, magnetic attraction and connection, becoming twin flames – mirror souls.

How about that start? If that doesn’t make your innards rumble, nothing will. Akkadian bring forth the heavy instruments for a bit, before flowing comfortably into something dreamier and more melodic. Expanding on this bit by bit, upping the ante as far as heaviness goes again, and leading to an ending that is simply stunning. An exciting and clever showcase of this band’s talents.

1349 – The God Devourer

The relentless beast that is 1349 emerges once again from the frosty abyss, delivering The Wolf and The King’s harrowing new single – ‘The God Devourer’. The Wolf and The King is out October 4th on Season of Mist.

Guess what? 1349 have released something blackened and brutal, something that is devilishly dark and wickedly twisted. It’s a 1349 special, and that’s always a good reason to get excited. That being said, this is a more measured approach from the band with guitars that have some harmony and work well alongside a chaotic style of drumming. All while the vocals howl in a way that is almost catchy, especially when the chorus hits. Check it out here.

Mandragora – Godspeed

Rising nu-metalcore band Mandragora, following the success of their latest single ‘Double
Negatives’, are back with another new track, ‘Godspeed’. A cathartic journey of self-empowerment and the inevitable shift in relationships as one steps into their own identity.

About the new single, Vocalist Maisie says:

The word ’godspeed’ is often used to wish someone good luck when they’re embarking on a new endeavour. In the context of our song, the title symbolises the end of a chapter in one’s life and the realisation that not all relationships, despite deep love, are meant to last. It’s about developing the emotional maturity to let go and wish the best for another person as both of you move forward.

Emotionally wrought, while bringing plenty of intense heaviness, Mandragora showcase perfectly the reasons as to why their name is getting more prominence. A beast of a track that has a violent edge, but is balanced by powerful clean vocals and an inherent catchiness that makes it much more accessible. This track is an attention seeker, and it’s really hard to ignore it, Mandragora’s quality is just too damn persuasive.

Black Lesion – Pity

The hard rock Scots, Black Lesion have announced that their brand-new EP, ‘The Human Essence’, will be released on September 13th, 2024. The final single from the EP, ‘Pity’, is out now and it finds Black Lesion exploring themes of hopefulness and serves as a tribute to those who are no longer with us but who never stopped fighting.

Offering up something a bit more mellow, more ballad-like, but still impressively powerful, Pity is an emotional listen that delivers heart-wrenching melodies, a hardy uptick in instrumental power, and some of the band’s strongest vocals and lyrics to date. There’s an alternative retro taint to this track, but it’s not a distraction. It’s safe to say that when coupled with the singles heard already, this track is all the confirmation anyone needs that this new EP is going to be very special indeed. Check it out here.

Future Palace – Decarabia

German post-hardcore trio Future Palace have released a video for their new single ‘Decarabia’. The track is taken from the band’s upcoming album ‘Distortion’, due for release on 6th September via Arising Empire.

Dedicating this song to the relationships of people who are suffering from mental illnesses, Future Palace set the bar high when it comes to relatability. Yet, this is an area they are consistent in. Another area they are consistent in is delivering massive choruses that get stuck in the brain matter for days afterwards and, once again, they deliver here. This is synthcore gold and easily one of their most impressive anthems to date.

Tremonti – Just Too Much

With a musical catalogue that includes 18 previously released full length albums from his work with Creed, Alter Bridge and various solo endeavours, world-renowned guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Mark Tremonti is back with his sixth album from his solo band, Tremonti. The new album, entitled ‘The End Will Show Us How’, is scheduled for global release on January 10th, 2025 via long-time partner, Napalm Records. The debut single from this new album, ‘Just Too Much’, is out now.

Bringing forth a big, groovy, and fun arena anthem, Tremonti isn’t setting the world on fire with a track like this, but you’d be a fool to not recognise the inimitable infectious nature of it. Where accessibility is so important and there can be no denying many, many people will enjoy this. A easy head-banger and body-shaker, and there’s never anything wrong with that. Check it out here.

Earthbound – Flight

The Earthbound train keeps on rolling on. The UK melodic metal band bring forth their latest single, ‘Flight’.

The form this band is on as of late is so impressive and that continues with the thumping and frantic melody-laced epic that is Flight. So much of this track is heavy, brutally heavy, but as is always the case with Earthbound, that is just part of what they offer on this track. Listen on and be wowed by a chorus that soars, bigger cinematic touches, and a deeper expression of progressive ideas. How about the drumming overall though? Intense stuff. Check it out here.

Nails – Lacking the Ability to Process Empathy

Anticipation continues as California masters of brutal aggression Nails reveal the latest single, ‘Lacking the Ability to Process Empathy’, from the band’s long-awaited, 4th full-length album, ‘Every Bridge Burning’, due out August 30th from Nuclear Blast Records.

The Nails train keeps on careening out of control as we approach the inevitable devastating crash that is the release of this new album. This latest single continues the heavy and fast focus that Nails has had. Offering up a short slab of garish brutality and violent belligerence. It’s solid gold heaviness.
