Bloodstock 2024 – Band Feature: Awake By Design
Bloodstock Open Air 2024 is right around the corner. Taking place August 8th to August 11th, the UK’s premier metal festival has, once again, delivered a stellar line-up. Featuring four stages of music and a litany of bands from within the rock and metal world, alongside numerous other forms of entertainment (such as official bin jousting)! There are a lot of bands on the bill, and some you may not be that familiar with, which is where we come in. As is our yearly custom, we will be running features on many of the bands playing, aiming to give you some insight into who they are, what they do, and why they are a must see at the festival.
Awake by Design
Forming in 2007, releasing their debut album in 2009, and having released even more since, while playing live all over the country alongside tons of legendary bands, Awake by Design have had one hell of a run, and that isn’t ending anytime soon.
Often compared to bands like Iron Maiden and Kamelot, Awake by Design’s sound comes from the world of melodic metal but is layered with massive levels of emotion, harmonies and epic arrangements. It has seen them gain a huge following all over the world and each new release has been met with acclaim from just about every corner of the scene.
From the debut album, ‘Sentiment’ in 2019, to the sophomore album, ‘Carve the Sun’ in 2015, to self-titled third album in 2020. When Awake by Design release something, it matters and everyone pays attention. Alongside the ‘Unfaded’ EP, released in 2021, Awake by Design were quick to capitalise and take the show on the road, wowing audiences all over the country and gaining even more fans. In fact, thanks to 2021’s live release – Live at ToneSphere – those who have yet to experience Awake by Design in the flesh can get a taster (sort of) with this record.
Now, with new music due later this year, and a litany of live shows that include Bloodstock, Awake by Design’s momentum seems pretty unstoppable and the Sophie Lancaster stage on the Sunday of the festival is where you need to be to see them deliver one hell of a show. Don’t take our word for it though. We spoke to Awake by Design about what it means to play Bloodstock 2024, what the festival means overall, and what attendees can expect from their show.
It means the absolute world to us that we have been given the opportunity to play this year’s Bloodstock festival on the Sophie Lancaster stage. We have been active bloodstock attendees over the years and we love the environment and atmosphere at Bloodstock.
Bloodstock means so much to us a band, we’ve had so many fantastic memoires at this festival. Fans and newcomers can expect an energetic performance from Awake by Design, We feel we’ve chosen the best set from our back catalogue for such an epic stage. We look forward to seeing you there!
