There are a lot of bands on the bill, and some you may not be that familiar with, which is where we come in. As is our yearly custom, we will be running features on many of the bands playing, aiming to give you some insight into who they are, what they do, and why they are a must see at the festival.
Yersin
Yersin are a three-piece extreme metal band from the bleak and barren part of the world known as the North East of England. Active since round 2015, with numerous releases and acclaimed live shows, they have built up a dedicated following and in recent times, have increased that exponentially.
Playing ferocious music that encapsulates elements of crust punk, D-beat, death metal, and is infused with a hefty black metal tinge, the sound of Yersin creates a raw auditory experience.
Relesing their debut EP, ‘Vulgarians’ in 2018 and the follow-up EP, The Devils Night’ in 2019, it didn’t take long for fans of heavy and extreme music to take note. Playing live as much as possible, and building towards the release of their debut album, Yersin built up one hell of a reputation before finally dropping ‘Guilt’ on skulls in 2020. Their debut album was very well received, but alas, COVID hit and plans went well and truly out the window.
In 2022, they re-emerged as part of the split record ‘Noise Annoys 3’, alongside Warchrist, Born Shit Stirrers, Born=Equal, Chain of Dissent, and Zero Again. Before dropping their highly anticipated second album, ‘The Scythe is Remorseless’, in January 2024 (Trepanation Records).
Showing just how far they’d come since 2020’s Guilt. This album is a beast, a glorious beast that rages and rages freaking hard. Proving to be a triumphant showcase of who and what they are (read our review here). Spending the rest of the year gigging, they even made their London debut at the end of March. Hammering out serrated metal, and creating a sea of banging heads (read our review of that show here).
There seems to be no limit on what Yersin can accomplish and their hard work is truly paying off now. Playing Bloodstock Open Air is a big deal, and they’re sure to be one of the heaviest bands of the weekend. They can be enjoyed on the EMP stage on the Sunday of the festival. Don’t take our word for it though. We spoke to Yersin about what it means to play Bloodstock 2024, what the festival means overall, and what attendees can expect from their show.
Playing Bloodstock is a big deal for us. Since we started this band almost ten years ago, we always wanted to be one of the heaviest and most intense bands on the underground scene and it felt like Bloodstock would be the only major UK festival we’d fit in.
We’ve always went to music festivals and said “next year with a lot of hard work we’ll play something like this” and this year it’s actually happening.
We can’t wait to bring our own unique style of heaviness to the EMP stage at Bloodstock.
