Game Review: Sega Columns Deluxe (Mobile)
Columns…Sega’s answer to Tetris has found its way to mobile devices packaged with another Sega puzzler called Puyo Pop (Originally known as Puyo Puyo). Called Columns Deluxe both games have the same basic idea…
In Columns match up coloured gems in rows of 3 to score points & in Puyo Pop match coloured Puyo creatures in rows of 4 to score points.
Neither is particularly exciting & the mobile port is lacking some real polish. Ugly to look at with poor controls & little to no added extra gameplay…there is not much to recommend here.
There is no 2-player option yet both games are played in split-screen against the CPU. The first thing you’re going to want to do in both games is turn off the touch accelerometer as it makes the games pretty much unplayable.
Swipe gestures are more favourable but not by much, it’s still a lesson in frustration & you’ll be reaching for the close button on your device fairly quickly.
If the irritating & poor quality music doesn’t make you first.
Bad visuals, poor sound quality, lack of fun gameplay & bad controls. What more do you need to know?
