EP Review: Chewing Glass Collective – Blood Bleacher (Self Released)
Chewing Glass Collective (Est. 2021) is a growing crew of Bristol, UK musicians and artists working together to create heavy music and extreme art. To date, they’ve had a number of releases and played live up and down the country, with their latest offering being a two-track EP called ‘Blood Bleacher’.
The title track is the focus piece, and is a less than two-minute explosion of furious noise. Chewing Glass Collective snarling with characteristic rage at the state of many nations’ terrible stance on refugees. Feral and mightily aggressive sounding, but with their distinctive ability to be stupidly infectious, it’s a heavyweight listen.
Alongside that, we have Anaesthetic Attack (Destruction Redux), which is slightly longer at just over two minutes. A track that comes with the same level of intensity as the title track, but sounds rawer and more bad-mannered. The vocal howls will send shivers down the spine, Chewing Glass Collective venting their frustrations at over a decade of Tory rule in Britain. The thunderous first part is amazing, but when this track kicks off, bones will likely be broken. Good luck getting a doctor’s appointment though.
