We overuse certain words when it comes to talking about music. Hell, there’s only so many in the English language, but every so often, the use of overused words is warranted. Case in point? This debut EP from fakeyourdeath which can be rightfully called ‘much-anticipated’.

If, by chance, you’ve not experienced some of the singles that have been released from it so far, you’re in for a treat. Although, having heard the opening track consume a lot since its release, it’s fair to say that its impact isn’t diminishing in the slightest. It bristles with intensity, showcases an eccentric take on post-hardcore and electronica, and leaves you feeling beat up, but inspired by the chaos they have created.

They’re a fascinating duo, challenging the perception of what modern bands can do with heavy music. Something that is just as relevant on the next couple of tracks; hell, and broken. Heavy on electronica, but with so much abrasive heaviness too. If you’re not head-banging, you’re dancing, and that’s not something you often get to say.

Every track has a chaotic edge, wholly unpredictable and incredibly demanding. As humanity comes along, it’s clear this is an EP you have to listen to multiple times to fully understand. There’s so much to unpick, so many layers, and so many unique things going on. Should you give it the time and space it needs, it proves to be such a rewarding experience.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and fakeyourdeath wrap up the EP with one hell of a good one. It’s truth. High energy and heavy stuff that serves as a timely reminder that this band are chaos personified.
