EP Review: Overthrow – Ascension of the Entombed (Redefining Darkness Records)
London based duo Overthrow are here to satisfy your blackened death/thrash cravings with their latest 4-track EP ‘Ascension of the Entombed’, to be released on October 13th, 2023, via Redefining Darkness Records.
A lovely little slice of feral, furious, and feverish wickedness, sitting somewhere in the middle of the devilish sound of blackened death and the fanatical sound of old-school thrash. Ascension of the Entombed is a four-track head-banger that will leave the listener seeing stars and wondering where their soul went.
Overthrow have ripped it right out of body with the force of this four-track EP. Four hefty and heavy efforts that combine the best elements of meaty meanness. All while having this slick and sticky coating of blackness. There’s no nice way to say this so to put it bluntly, this EP will f**k you up.
Credit to Overthrow, seeing as they’re a duo, Ascension of the Entombed leaves one hell of an impression. As well as muscle aches, stomach pains, and an overall hollow feeling. They’ve been around since 2011, so maybe it’s time they start getting their props as this music is pretty damn great.
